Middlesbrough frustrations with Tottenham are growing as they continue to stall on a deal for Djed Spence this summer.

As a result of that, it’s been explained to Football League World that a move back to Nottingham Forest is not out of the question at this stage.

Steve Cooper’s side have not given up hope of re-signing the England youth international after his impressive loan at the City Ground last season from Boro.

Spence, 21, featured 42 times for Forest across the Championship and resulting play-off campaign, eventually helping the Reds secure a top-flight return for the first time since 1999.

The right wing-back scored twice and registered four assists, which had prompted interest from Spurs and Antonio Conte.

However, the North London club have so far failed to strike and agreement with parent club Middlesbrough, whose frustrations are growing.

There’s a feeling at Forest that a deal for Spence, therefore, isn’t completely dead at this stage, as their planning for life back in the top-flight continues.
