Everton are confident that it will take way less than £89million to prise Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli this summer, Football Insider has been told.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club believe the defender’s price tag will tumble by at least £30m in the next window.

Koulibaly is in the top bracket of centre-backs in the world but turns 30 in June and enters the final two years of his contract.

The next window represents one of the last opportunities for Napoli to secure a huge fee for him.

It was reported by the Mail last year that Napoli valued their prize asset at £89million amid interest from the likes of Man United.

He could leave for less than £60m in the summer and Everton will be at the front of the queue to negotiate a deal.

Everton are planning on making a move even though the Senegal international will have little sell-on value.

Football Insider revealed last month that Ancelotti does not believe the current Everton combinations at centre-back work together.

That explains why he has continually swapped between a three-man defence and an orthodox back four this season.

The club are keen to cash in on Yerry Mina to part-fund the pursuit of Koulibaly or a defender of his calibre.

Of Everton’s four senior centre-backs, each of Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey, Mina and Mason Holgate have started at least 18 Premier League matches.
