Cardiff City have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool winger Harry Wilson on loan ahead of Friday’s domestic deadline, Football Insider understands.
As revealed by this site, the 23-year-old has been at the heart of a transfer tussle in the Championship, with the likes of Derby County and Nottingham Forest having already tabled offers for his capture.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Cardiff have tonight agreed loan terms for Wilson but that Swansea City and Bristol City are still in the hunt heading into the final day of the English transfer window.
Wilson was given the green light to leave Anfield this window and has been in high demand from Premier League and Championship sides.
However, the Wales international saw a permanent move to Burnley fall through when Clarets boss Sean Dyche pulled the plug on a potential deal earlier in the summer.
The Premier League side had a bid of £12million for the winger rejected and they refused to meet Liverpool’s £15million valuation for the former Bournemouth loanee.
Having remained with the Reds past the end of the international transfer window, Wilson became a top target for several Championship clubs ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline for deals between EFL and Premier League clubs.
As revealed by Football Insider, Liverpool have been demanding a loan fee “well in excess of £1million” for the winger’s capture.
It is understood that Cardiff have now agreed terms of a temporary deal with the reigning Premier League champions but that rival interest from the likes of Bristol City and Swansea City remains.
