Joan Laporta and Mateu Alemany have been working overtime to ensure that Barcelona bring in the required reinforcements for Xavi in the current window, starting with the attacking positions.

After securing Ferran Torres, Barcelona have sealed their second arrival for the winter window, according to reports from the reliable Gerard Romero.

Adama Traore is very close to sealing a return to Barcelona from Wolverhampton Wanderers and will be a new player of the club – barring any major unexpected twists.

The deal is said to be secured on very good financial terms and is a loan move till the end of the season. Moreover, his arrival is said to have no connection with Ousmane Dembele’s uncertain position at the club.

According to Catalan news outlet SPORT, Traore has cut his salary drastically so that the Blaugrana can register him. More importantly, in June, the player will sign for 4 more years if the club decides to purchase him permanently.

Traore was said to have an offer from Tottenham Hotspurs on the table earlier this week. However, he chose to wait until Barcelona’s interest in him. The operation to sign the winger was reactivated with Jorge Mendes’ trip to Barcelona earlier this week.

The Spanish International has played 20 games in the Premier League this season but has scored only one goal with an unopened assist tally.

The 26-year-old’s biggest strength is his ability to take on defenders fearlessly. In the English league, Traore averages 4.2 dribbles completed every game with an astounding 81% completion rate.

Barca Universal’s thoughts

With Ousmane Dembele likely to head to the stands for the rest of the season and Ansu Fati injured for a long period, the need for a new winger is real.

Traore can provide a physical, yet explosive option down Barcelona’s wings. Moreover, his prior experience at La Masia could certainly play a big role in his integration.

The biggest drawback of his move is his poor record in front of goal, a department in which the Catalans required urgent attention. Additionally, Traore’s pass completion rate this season has been a bare 71%.
