Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Erik ten Hag's job at Manchester United is already under threat.
United suffered a second consecutive league defeat on Saturday, this time a 4-0 thumping away at Brentford on Saturday. The loss came less than a week after they were beaten 2-1 at home to Brighton.
"I think this is a difficult time for Man United," Souness said on talkSPORT. "I'm not sure this group of players, with this manager, will be any different to where they were last year. I really don't, I think the players they've brought in are not game-changers for them.
"I think the clock is ticking on him (Ten Hag) already, that's the nature of being manager of Man United at this time. They expect big things from him, he's been successful at Ajax but in what is a much inferior league to the Premier League.
"The demands there are nothing like what he's got on his shoulders in the Premier League and in managing arguably the biggest club in the world."
Host Jim White then posed the question as to what happens if Liverpool 'do a serious number' on United and whether they could even go as far as showing Ten Hag the door. Souness simply responded: "Listen, don't be surprised at surprises in football."
