Matias Soule has expressed his excitement at the prospect of lining up alongside Paulo Dybala for the first time when Roma kick-off against Empoli in Serie A on Sunday evening.
The Argentine duo are set to start together for the first time, following Dybala’s decision to stay on in Serie A, despite being offered an enormous €25m per season contract in Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah.
“I’m very happy, he’s a friend of mine. We’re always together, so I’m really happy,” Soule told DAZN.
It is understood that Dybala played a big role in convincing Soule to join from Juventus earlier this summer.
Sunday’s game against Empoli will also be Soule’s first at the Stadio Olimpico.
“This stadium makes me feel emotional, I can’t wait to get started,” Soule added.
He also briefly explained what to expect from Roma’s attacking line-up, as he and Dybala often operate in similar positions on the pitch.
“What the coaches tell us is to move, without giving too many specific directions. I can do it off the left, I haven’t done it for a while, but I have done in the past. We’ll move a lot, including Pelle (Lorenzo Pellegrini) and hopefully create a lot of opportunities.”
“I hope to score or fo my best for the team and hopefully get our first three points,” he concluded.
Kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico is due at 19.45 BST.
