Everton boss Brian Sørensen believes that his side can match latest opponents Manchester United.

The Blue Girls travel to the Leigh Sports Village to take on the Barclays Women’s Super League leaders this afternoon.

Everton lost the reverse fixture 3-0 back in October. Sørensen was hugely frustrated by that performance but he believes that his side have grown and they are ready to take on Manchester United again.

“We didn’t deliver a performance like we can,” Sørensen said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “Overall, we looked okay on the ball but we didn’t create enough chances or play with the high intensity that we do. We definitely learnt from it and the games after that, we did better.

“We are well-prepared to go there and get a result, we have the team to do it. We have been growing a lot so we can’t wait to get out there and hopefully, have a good game.”

Manchester United have marginally won their last two games against Reading and Sunderland. Despite not being at their best, Everton boss Sørensen insists that The Red Devils are still in good form, although he believes that his own side can match them all over the pitch.

He said “Whenever we play them, it is a good time, it comes down to the performance on the day. They are very ruthless in how they have been playing and if you look at the games against Reading and Sunderland, they could have easily scored more goals, it has just been about having the sharpness and the final finish.

“I feel that we have a team that can match them all over the pitch. There are areas where we can hurt them but we do have respect for them, they are a good team and have a good bench. We have to put in a 90-minute plus performance at the highest level if we want to get a result. I do feel that we have momentum and are in form so we can do it.”
