Tottenham continued their victorious start to pre-season as skipper Heung-min Son netted twice in a dramatic 4-3 win over a K-League XI in Seoul.
Scorers: Iljutcenko 52′, 54′, Oberdan 81′; Kulusevski 29′, Son 37′, 45+1′, Lankshear 67′
Having won each of their first three fixtures, Ange Postecolgou’s side started this one brightly too, with the goalkeeper being called into action to deny Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson early on.
After another save to deny Heung-min Son on the half-hour mark, the ball was spilled into the path of Dejan Kulusevski who took a touch to settle himself before rifling high into the net.
He then came close to adding a swift assist for countryman Lucas Bergvall but the youngster’s effort crashed against the underside of the crossbar.
Returning hero Son did get among the goals with a ruthless curling effort after showing some slick footwork to make space off the left and then added a second in first half injury-time.
Emerson Royal came close to another in the second half but again, the crossbar came to the Korean select’s rescue and on that moment, the game turned in a flash as Stanislav Iljutcenko scored twice in as many minutes to reduce the deficit to one after they came so close to trailing by four.
But just as things threatened to get hairy for Spurs, substitutes Timo Werner and Will Lankshear combined for the youngster to restore their two-goal lead.
There was still time for more drama as Oberdan fired a delightful volley home in the closing stages after Brandon Austin punched clear but Spurs squeezed over the line for victory.
