Tottenham snatched a late win over Southampton in Ryan Mason's first game in charge.

The 29-year-old former Spurs midfielder - who was forced to retire due to a head injury - is caretaker manager after Jose Mourinho's dismissal earlier this week.

And his first game in charge didn't start the best as Danny Ings broke the deadlock for the visitors with a pinpoint flicked header from James Ward-Prowse's corner.

The second-half was a different story when, having made little impact in the game hitherto, Gareth Bale curled in a superb equaliser into the top corner.

Son Heung-min thought he had put his side in front, only for VAR to rule the goal offside due to Lucas Moura blocking the vision of Saints goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

But the South Korean would get his winning goal, this time with VAR on his side as the technology ruled Moussa Djenepo's foul on Harry Winks was just inside the Southampton penalty area, and Son made no mistake blasting past McCarthy.
