Tottenham Hotspur skipper Son Heung-Min has paid the ultimate compliment to two Liverpool players who he thinks are best in their respective positions.

Over the years, thanks to smart recruitment, Liverpool have assembled a terrific squad that won Premier League and Champions League trophies under Jurgen Klopp.

During his nine-year stay, Klopp has been able to sign some quality players like Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, Fabinho, Andy Robertson, Alexis MacAllister, and others, but two of his best signings will always be Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

Liverpool broke the bank to sign Van Dijk from Southampton and Alisson from AS Roma, and the duo has been integral to Liverpool’s success under Klopp.

Van Dijk was already a top defender when he joined Liverpool, but he took his game to a whole new level in the past few years. The Liverpool skipper is the heartbeat of the side, and many consider him as one of the best Premier League defenders of all time.

Likewise, Alisson has been phenomenal (barring odd mistakes) for the Reds over the years and has been the club’s first-choice since joining in 2018.

The South Korean is arguably one of the best forwards the Premier League has ever seen, and he is certainly a cult hero at Tottenham.

The 32-year-old is also a loveable character, and getting big compliments from him would really mean a lot to the Liverpool fans (and the two players).

In an interview with Goal, Son says Van Dijk is the best defender, and Alisson is the best goalkeeper he has played against.

The interviewer asked: “Who’s the best defender you’ve ever played against? I think I know who you’d say to be honest.”

Son replied: “I would say Virgil.”

In another question of the rapid-fire segment, he was asked: “The best goalkeeper you’ve played against?”

Son answered: “Alisson.”

Liverpool should do everything to keep Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk has been colossal at the back for Liverpool and at 33, he is showing no signs of slowing down.

He has played all Premier League games for the Reds this season and has looked imperious. The big question remains whether he would sign a new deal at the club.

Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, he is in the final year of his club deal and has not signed an extension yet.

He has recently suggested that his future will be sorted out (one way or the other) at the end of the season, and Liverpool fans hope that the club can reach an agreement on a new deal with him.
