Marcus Rashford is yet to feature for Manchester United this season as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery. The 23-year-old went under the knife earlier this summer in a bid to overcome the bothersome problem.

Rashford is believed to have managed the issue for most of last season but decided to press ahead with plans to undergo surgery following his involvement in this summer’s European Championship.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have managed without their star winger so far this season as they boast an impressive record in the Premier League, winning four and drawing one game so far.

The manager haw now offered an update on Rashford and signalled to supporters that the Wythenshawe-born is closer to a return than some would assume.

“Yeah it’s going well,” the manager told the official Manchester United website on Alex Telles’ and Rashford’s recovery progress.

“They’ve worked really hard, both of them. Alex is a bit further on than Marcus. I don’t think we’ll see Marcus until after the international break but Alex has worked well and will be in the squad as well.”

Solskjaer’s comments mean Rashford will have been ruled out for the first two months of the season when he makes his return. Tonight’s Carabao Cup fixture against West Ham excluded, he would miss United’s next four games in all competitions.

Rashford could make his long-awaited return from injury against Leicester on October 16.
