Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Manchester United will have almost an entire squad to choose from as they face rivals Manchester City on Wednesday.

The clubs meet in the EFL Cup semi-finals, as United look to end City’s dominance of the competition. The Etihad outfit have won the cup four times in the last five years.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Solskjaer confirmed United have almost everyone available for selection. Suspended Edinson Cavani will, though, miss the game.

“We’re disappointed not having Edinson involved,” Solskjaer said.

“But he’s probably the only one not [available] and, of course, Phil Jones has been out for a long time. They’re the only two not available for selection, which is a good position to be in.”

Victor Lindelöf hasn’t featured since Boxing Day but appears to have recovered from a back injury in time for the game.

“We’re confident,” Solskjaer added. “We’re going into the game in good form so there’s no excuses. The squad is focused and we’re ready to give it a go. We’ve prepared well for this game.”

The Norwegian is looking to win his first trophy since taking over at Old Trafford just over two years ago and has recently led the club to second in the Premier League.

“The next game is always important but a semi-final is a chance to get to the finals and get your hands on a trophy.

“You play football to win trophies. It gives you the hunger to win more. The squad is focused and we’re ready to give it a go.”
