Another weekend, another clash between Manchester United and Liverpool.
This one’s at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had plenty to say in his pre-match press conference …
“Victor [Lindelöf] will be fine for the weekend, it was just too quick a turnaround with the travel and with his back. Now we’ve got four days extra so he should be ready for the weekend.”
“We’ll rotate, that’s for sure. We’ll put a decent team together, of course, a team I feel can win the game. The focus is now on the FA Cup. We know it’s a difficult tie.”
“We attacked every time we got the ball, maybe too much. We kept giving it away, that was the challenge. We went forward too quickly. The thought that we weren’t attacking, I don’t understand that one.”
“I’m very happy with my forwards. You’ve got talents like Mason [Greenwood] and Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony [Martial] and the experience of Edinson [Cavani]. It’s great to see them every day in training and in the games they complement each other.
“Last season, Anthony, Marcus and Mason scored I don’t know how many – 60ish – we’ve got a front three/four, well those three for many, many years, and Edi can help with his experience for the time that he’s here.”
“They’re eager, of course, but it’s also a way we want to attack quickly. It’s not that you have to attack quickly every time, it’s a decision you’ve got to make there and then.
“Of course, it’s in our DNA that if you see a pass, do it. Do it well. I didn’t think we executed the passes well enough. Some of the runs were maybe too eager, especially at Anfield.”
