Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping ‘unbelievable’ Marcus Rashford can continue his fine form as the club prepares for this weekend’s Manchester derby.

Manchester United make the short trip to the Etihad on Saturday evening to face the reigning Premier League champions, in what will be the 179th meeting between the two sides.

Man City ran out winners in both derby fixtures last season though their hopes of success this weekend will be boosted by the superb form of forward Rashford, the England international’s brace against Tottenham in midweek making it ten goals in his past 11 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Solskjaer was full of praise for the 22-year-old’s recent performances, and believes Rashford is now showing the consistency that can see him develop into a prolific Premier League forward.

“He is doing that at the moment,” Solskjaer told his pre-match press conference.

“He’s doing it consistently now, scoring 10 in the last 11, but it’s not like four in one and two or three without.

”It’s not just in spurts but he’s consistently getting chances, and into better positions, and on Wednesday night he was unbelievable. I hope to see that again.”

United head into their meeting with City currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side are third following their midweek win at Burnley, 11 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
