Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is hoping to see Manchester United’s ‘resilience’ and ‘robustness’ when they travel to face Wolves on Monday night.

United began their Premier League campaign in impressive fashion last weekend, a Marcus Rashford brace helping Solskjaer’s side to a comprehensive 4-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Upon Solskjaer’s appointment last December, Manchester United enjoyed an initial surge in results, before seeing their form fall off a cliff at the end of the campaign.

Now after another bright start, the United boss has admitted that he is looking forward to his side facing ‘the first hurdle’ of the new season, calling on his players to show their mental strength in what he is predicting will be a difficult encounter at Molineux.

“We’ve had a good pre-season, fitness is better, we’ve got a young team that will give us energy and then toward end of last season we were mentally tired now mentally fresh,” the Norwegian said at his pre-match presser.

“I’m looking forward to the first hurdle, the resilience, robustness, bouncing back when the going gets tough and I’m sure it will be on Monday.

“Wolves will give us a hard challenge, just as much a mental test. We’re in a good place at the moment and when you hit the first hurdle and obstacle you want to see the leaders, anyone can play well when you’re winning 3-0 or 4-0.”
