Paul Pogba is not in the Manchester United squad that takes on West Brom in this evening’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Paul Pogba was ruled out of Saturday’s clash with West Brom after picking up a knock in training.
Rumours emerged over the Frenchman’s lack of involvement in tonight’s game when Pogba wasn’t spotted at the team’s pre-match meeting at the Lowry Hotel.
Pogba made an appearance in all three of France’s internationals during the November break, including 90 minutes in each of their Nations League wins over Portugal and Sweden.
But Solskjaer was dealt a blow after Pogba sustained an ankle injury in training on Friday. Let’s hope it’s not the same ankle injury which kept him out of action for most of last season.
“He [Pogba] tried to finish the last session but it [the ankle] got worse and worse so he is unavailable today,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.
“Hopefully he is okay for Tuesday [against Istanbul Basaksehir] but we’ll see.”
That doesn’t sound very promising – but at least Solskjaer thinks he could be fit for United’s next UEFA Champions League clash.
The biggest change in the line-up tonight sees Alex Telles make his first Premier League appearance, replacing Luke Shaw who is out injured.
Brandon Williams has been called up to the squad and makes the bench.
