The opening day victory against Leeds remains the highlight of the season so far, with the curtain-raiser in August being Scott McTominay’s only start of the season.
The Scotland international made a brief appearance from the bench the following week but has been out with a groin injury after undergoing surgery.
Solskjaer has, however, confirmed that McTominay is back in full training. The news comes as a huge boost for the Norwegian manager, as McTominay is his clear first choice in midfield.
United have missed his steel at the heart of their side in the last couple of games and although he is unlikely to feature against West Ham this weekend, he could make a return days later in the domestic cup.
Alex Telles, who hasn’t featured for the club since the first pre-season game this summer, has also made a full return to training after sustaining an ankle injury.
“Scott and Alex have joined in training this morning fully. They look good,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website.
“Of course we need to have them go through a few sessions before we can consider if they’re going to be available.”
