Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy with what he saw from his team in a 2-2 draw with Brentford on Wednesday.

The Red Devils were held at home in a friendly clash against the newly promoted side.

Despite taking the lead on two occasions, United were twice pegged back and had to settle for a share of the spoils.

After the game, which featured several second string and youth players from United's perspective, Solskjaer was positive about his team's preparations for the new season.

He told the club's website post-game: "I enjoyed the first half especially. I thought we played some good combination play, we played through the lines. Of course, they defended well inside their box, but I thought some of the football was magnificent.

"It was a good goal by them as well, that hit by the way, but they didn't have a lot else. I was very pleased with the first half. The second half was a bit more messy as it always will be in pre-season with loads of changes, but it was a big step forward I felt."
