Solskjaer challenges Manchester United youngsters to take their ‘life-changing’ chance amid injury crisis | OneFootball

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged Manchester United’s young talent to seize their opportunity amid a growing injury crisis at Old Trafford.

Manchester United came into the 2019/20 campaign with an already thin-looking squad, with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford their only senior strikers, while their midfield options weren’t exactly bristling with strength and depth.

Ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Leicester at Old Trafford though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to be without regular starters Martial, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw, with the Norwegian likely to be forced to turn to his unproven youngsters such as Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference, the United boss has urged the younger members of his squad to seize their opportunity, describing it as potentially ‘life-changing’.

“We have a squad of 24, 25 players and we expect them to play their part at certain times and different times in the season,” Solskjaer said. “This weekend might be one of those times.”

“It’s a good test, it’s a great test and a great challenge for our players who want to push on.

“A few players are out, so the others can step up. Here’s your chance. That’s the thing here. The young kids do get chances and when they take them, it can be life-changing.”
