The German then turned provider as his pass allowed Callum McGregor to score an absolute cracker. An effort that is surely an early contender for goal of the season.
The first half in particular we were absolutely fantastic and controlled the game throughout, the only disappointment is that we only had two goals to show for our efforts.
We slowed down a bit in the second period, but we still looked in complete control and never looked in danger of throwing our lead away.
As good and efficient as we were, it’s still glaringly obvious that we need strengthening in certain areas. Those particular areas being centre back and Centre forward.
Liam Scales has improved brilliantly under Brendan Rodgers and deserves great credit for getting to where he is now, but he’s not the standard we require if we want to improve on the European front. Adam Idah is of course the man we are currently chasing, but time is ticking and we need to rectify it if we have to have any chance of being successful this campaign.
Yes we look a class above the rest of the league, but injuries and suspensions will inevitably arrive especially with the revamped extended champions league, and we need the required quality available to compete on all fronts.
