Arsenal have announced the departure of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, with the club agreeing the immediate termination of his contract.
Sokratis joins Sead Kolašinac in leaving this winter, with Mesut Özil also set to complete a move to Fenerbahçe.
Arsenal did not register Sokratis to play in the Premier League or Europa League this season and he hasn’t featured since the FA Cup final.
“On behalf of Mikel, our coaches, players and everyone at the club, I would like to thank Papa for his contribution to the club,” stated technical director Edu.
“He has been an important part of our group and has been a model professional throughout.
“The negotiations to end his contract have been collaborative and we wish Papa and his family well for the future.”
Signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, the 32-year-old made 69 Arsenal appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.
