Nordin Amrabat, brother of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, claims the Moroccan midfielder is open to reuniting with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

Amrabat is poised to leave Fiorentina this summer amid interest from a host of clubs across Europe, but there is yet to be an official proposal for his signature.

Man United are one of several clubs touted as a possible destination for the Morocco international defensive midfielder, but he is not a priority for the Red Devils for now.

Mason Mount remains Man United’s only piece of business during the Premier League transfer window, but Ten Hag is keen to strengthen other areas of his squad.

A striker and goalkeeper are understood to be the priority for the Dutch tactician, after which he will consider reinforcing the defensive midfield, and Amarabat is believed to be his preferred candidate.

The pair worked together at Utrecht in the Eredivisie from 2015 to 2017, and Ten Hag still holds Amrabat in high esteem.

Amrabat’s brother has now handed the former Ajax manager a major transfer boost after admitting that the Fiorentina man would be open to a Premier League switch.

“He wants to go to the top,” he told ESPN. “You are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League. At Barcelona, he is high on the list, but you know Barca’s financial situation.

“Of course, you never know. It will be a strong competition when you see which names are going. But my brother now has the intention to play at the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think.

“Ten Hag is now looking for a striker – he wants that first. From there, he will see what is possible. But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him, and they have a good relationship, so who knows.”

Atletico Madrid have also been heavily linked with a potential bid for Amrabat, but Fiorentina’s €30 million demand has seen the Spanish giants slow down their interest.
