Fiorentina want €45million for Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham interested, according to a report.

Amrabat was superb for Morocco at this winter’s World Cup as the Atlas Lions became the first African side to reach the semi-finals in the history of the tournament.

He was already linked with a move to Tottenham before the tournament, but more clubs are now interested thanks to his exploits in Qatar.

Fiorentina paid around €20m to sign Amrabat from Hellas Verona in January 2025.

The 26-year-old is under contract until 2024, though there is an option to extend his deal by a further year.

The Serie A club may look to sell the Moroccan hero while his stock is high, and you could imagine a club would be willing to spend around double what Fiorentina paid to buy him.

A recent report stated that Amrabat favours a move to Liverpool, with Foot Mercato also stating that Spurs, Atletico Madrid and an unnamed German club are keen.

The tireless midfielder does seem destined for a transfer next month, and the Reds are certainly a team who could do with a player like Amrabat.

According to Moroccan outlet Lions de L’Atlas, Fiorentina are looking for €45m to sell Amrabat, and Liverpool have made it known they are ‘keen’ to pay that amount.

Liverpool have a ‘head start’ after Jurgen Klopp ‘made contact’ with Amrabat and his representatives, which the player ‘appreciated’.

While Spurs are said to still be interested, the report adds Atletico Madrid and Chelsea to the ‘dance’.

Even if Liverpool complete the signing of Amrabat, they are still expected to pursue another midfielder in 2023.

Their top target is Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, who was brilliant for England at the World Cup.

Competition will be fierce, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United also extremely keen to sign the 19-year-old.

United are feeling pretty optimistic about their chances. They had shown Bellingham around Carrington in 2020, but he opted to join Dortmund.

Given his rapid growth in Germany, that decision has been fully justified.

The Red Devils signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer but Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to further improve his midfield.

Much of the club’s summer window was spent chasing Ten Hag’s number-one target Frenkie de Jong.

The Barcelona playmaker was less than keen on a move to Old Trafford at the time despite the La Liga’s club desire to sell him.

De Jong and Ten Hag worked together at Ajax and the manager is still a huge fan of his fellow Dutchman.

At the start of the season, Barcelona boss Xavi preferred Franck Kessie to De Jong, but the 25-year-old has played his way back into the starting XI and it is now believed that the time to sign him has passed.

United are still adamant to try again, despite the player’s summer stance, and the club’s new winter stance.
