Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2024 lineup: Lionesses legends part of first confirmed names | OneFootball

Soccer Aid for UNICEF will return this June for its 13th instalment and fans can expect to see two former Lionesses in the lineup.

After their Soccer Aid debuts last year, England legends Jill Scott and Karen Carney will return to the stage. The midfield duo will lace up their boots to take on reigning champions World XI.

Stamford Bridge will play host to Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2024. This is just the second time the charity match will be held at the home of Chelsea.

Scott, who retired from professional football after winning Euro 2022 with the Lionesses, will captain England for this year’s Soccer Aid. Carney will join her former teammate under the management of Frank Lampard, Harry Redknapp and Robbie Williams.

Alex Scott will also be involved in the action as she returns to present alongside Dermot O’Leary.

What is Soccer Aid for UNICEF?

Soccer Aid for UNICEF is a British annual charity event in aid of UNICEF UK. Former professional footballers and some of the world’s biggest celebrities are called up every year to represent England and the World XI.

Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes founded Soccer Aid in 2006. There have been 12 instalments of the charity match, which takes place in popular football venues across England. World XI hold the overall lead, with seven wins to England’s five.

The money raised from this year’s game could help UNICEF protect children from disease and malnutrition, support their mental health and respond in times of crisis, so they can get back to learning when schools are destroyed. It could also help provide vaccines to prevent common childhood diseases such as measles, so that children around the world can grow up happy, healthy and able to play.

Last year, Soccer Aid raised a record-breaking £14.6 million for UNICEF, and we are pushing to beat that again in 2024.

Female stars at Soccer Aid for UNICEF

Increasingly more women have been named as Soccer Aid for UNICEF competitors over the years. Actress Erin Doherty joins Scott and Carney on the 2024 England team. The 31-year-old is known for her portrayal of young Princess Anne in Netflix’s The Crown. During her earlier years, Chelsea scouted Doherty as a promising young footballer.

Comedian Maisie Adam will return to represent the World XI this year. Livi Sheldon, a bodybuilder, former Worcester City player, and Gladiators star — also known as Diamond — will join her.

Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2024 will take place at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, June 9th.

Tickets for the game are on sale now via socceraid.org.uk/tickets, with a family of four able to attend for £60 — two adults and two children. Tickets include access to a pre-game ‘Fan Zone’ and ‘Player Arrivals Area’.
