Smith Rowe started for Huddersfield against Birmingham City on Wednesday, and the Town fans liked what they saw from the Arsenal loanee in his 69 minutes on the pitch.
Before the game, Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley confirmed he’ll sometimes make substitutions after the hour mark with upcoming games in mind. It’s a hectic schedule in the Championship, just like in the Premier League. This is presumably why Smith Rowe came off early.
It certainly wasn’t a poor performance that inspired the change. Smith Rowe completed 90% of his passes, created three chances, completed both of his long balls and four of his six crosses.
The 19-year-old also won a couple of free-kicks as Huddersfield took a 2-0 lead. They won the match 3-0 in the end, adding another after the substitution.
Huddersfield were desperate for a result, particularly after their recent run of defeats. The fans certainly took notice of Smith Rowe’s performance in finally securing three points.
Even the Birmingham City fans had nice words to say about their opponent on the day, with one claiming Smith Rowe deserved the Man-of-the-Match award.
