Teenage midfielder Topalovic joined Inter during the summer transfer window prior to this season.

The Nerazzurri signed the Slovenian as a player for the future rather than the present.

Topalovic has been playing with Inter’s Under-19, or Primavera, team this season.

And there has been quite the impact from Topalovic.

The teenage midfielder enjoyed his most high profile display to date last week in the Champions League. He bagged a brace and also won a penalty in a 3-2 UEFA Youth league win over RB Leipzig.

Upon joining Inter, Topalovic admits that “At first, everything was uncertain.”

“It’s not easy to make a decision like that at my age,” the teenager said.

“But I’m lucky because I can count on my family.”

“I admit that I was a bit scared,” Topalovic said. “Knowing how things have gone for young Slovenian players in Italy.”

“But every player has his own story.”

Meanwhile, Topalovic gave his thoughts on his experiences with the Inter first team. “I trained with them in the summer,” he noted.

“Now I do so occasionally. Because the season is on, and we have constant matches.”

“Us young players get involved when they need us,” Topalovic noted.

“I felt some trepidation at first,” the young midfielder said of training alongside Inter’s senior squad. “I can’t hide that. Especially in the first few days.”

“But they gave me a good welcome. They’re all great professionals.”

“Especially Piotr Zielinski,” Topalovic continued. “And also Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a giant.”

As far as his first team ambitions, Topalovic said they’re “more or less clear.”

“Now I’m focused on the competitions and teams that I’m playing in,” he went on.”

“But then… I can’t say I’ll be playing for the Inter first team soon. But I want to progress.”

“Every day I work for it, and I believe I’ll be able to achieve my goal,” Topalovic said. “Time will tell where and how the turning point happens.”
