Slovakian national team coach Francesco Calzona admits that Inter defender Milan Skriniar will be a big miss for his team in their EURO 2024 qualifying matches during the international break.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach described the 28-year-old as a “top player” and noted that his absence is likely to be felt in qualifiers against the likes of Luxembourg and Bosnia and Herzgovina.

Skriniar will not be a part of Slovakia’s squad during this international break, as the former Sampdoria defender’s back injury which has kept him out of Inter’s past four Serie A matches continues to keep him out of action.

Apart from his quality on the pitch, Skriniar has also emerged as a real leader within this Slovakia squad, having been named as captain of the team last year following the retirement of legendary former Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik from international duty.

Slovakia coach Calzona stated that “He’s a top player, of course I’m not happy with his absence. He’ll be a big miss for us even if we have other players who can make up for it.”
