Manchester United will look to prise one of Chelsea’s host of attacking talents if they are to sanction Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Stamford Bridge this month.
According to Sky Sports, Christopher Nkunku has been cherry-picked by INEOS as a suitable forward to bolster Ruben Amorim’s striking options for the remainder of the campaign.
They claim that ‘talks have taken place between intermediaries’ – despite Chelsea being unwilling to do a deal for any fee below their £70 million valuation.
The Blues signed Nkunku for £52m back in June 2023 after he oversaw a prolific 23-goal campaign with RB Leipzig. Yet, his form would go on to falter in London due to unrelenting injury setbacks, which has now seen him fail to cement a starting role under Enzo Maresca.
He’s made only three Premier League starts this term and has had to grow accustomed to playing second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson. However, the Frenchman, whom compatriot Thierry Henry said he ‘loves’ watching play, has notched a respectable 13 goals and four assists in the 28 appearances he’s been granted – albeit most coming via the UEFA Conference League.

Latest speculation suggests Chelsea, who sit fourth-placed in the table heading into this evening’s clash with Manchester City, are mulling over an opening offer for Garnacho, though it remains to be seen if they’re willing to meet United’s £60m+ demands.
Napoli failed in their pursuit after submitting a £40m proposal before holding face-to-face meetings with Red Devils chiefs, with an agreement ultimately unable to materialise. The Serie A leaders have since opened talks with Borussia Dortmund for 23-year-old winger Karim Adeyemi, giving Chelsea a free run in their battle for United’s No.17.
