The Lancashire club have picked up seven points in Lowe’s first three games at the helm at Deepdale, with Preston losing just once in their last six.

Sheffield United will provide a stern test for Lowe’s Preston this evening, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side picking up four wins from their last five matches.

The Blades will be hoping to trouble the play-off positions as the season progress, despite being 10 points from the much-desired top-six at this point.

Issuing his score prediction via his Sky Sports column, David Prutton has found it hard to separate the two sides, opting for a 2-2 draw.

The verdict

The Blades were impressive in their four successive victories before a 2-0 loss to Derby County on Saturday, so they will be hoping that their display at Pride Park was a one-off under Heckingbottom.

Sheffield United are an ambitious club, and given the quality of the squad at his disposal, Heckingbottom can be confident that the Blades will continue to battle away for a spot in the play-offs.

Preston will make things difficult this evening and will also be viewing this clash as a winnable one.

Ultimately, a draw of some sort is certainly a fair prediction ahead of tonight’s game, but both sides will be eager to break into the top half.
