Sky Sports’ EFL pundit David Prutton has predicted a narrow Watford win when Xisco Munoz’s team host Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Munoz has managed three points from his two Championship games since his appointment last month, although his side produced a stellar performance during their FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United last Saturday and should taken plenty of confidence despite the scoreline.

But whilst a cup run would’ve been a bonus for the Hornets, the main focus for the Vicarage Road outfit remains returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

And although Watford have only managed four points from their last four league matches, they still occupy the final play-off places, and are only six points adrift of the top-two places having played a game fewer than four of the five sides directly above them.

Did Watford sign each of these 14 players for more or less than £1 million?

Meanwhile, Huddersfield are continuing to be arguably the most consistent side in the division – epitomised by the fact they’ve managed nine victories this season, but have also lost 10 matches.

But what does Prutton expect to happen?

He told Sky Sports: “One win, one defeat for Xisco Munoz at Watford so far in the Championship. But he’s had a tough start against Norwich and Swansea in his first two games. Their home record has been good this season, and he will want to maintain that.

“Huddersfield are ticking along under Carlos Corberan. They can give anyone a game, but their inconsistency is why they find themselves in mid-table. I think this should just go the way of Watford.”

The Verdict

Watford need three points, and I think they’ll get them here.

He might still leave before the end of the month, but with Ismaila Sarr still in their ranks, along with the likes of Andre Gray and captain Troy Deeney, I think the Hornets will have too much for Huddersfield, who don’t win very often on their travels.
