Whilst the vast majority of Championship action is on pause for the FA Cup fourth round this weekend, there are still a few second tier matches going ahead.

One of those sees Hull City host Queens Park Rangers at the MKM Stadium in what should be a very competitive matchup.

Indeed, heading into the match, Hull sit 16th in the league standings, with QPR just three places ahead in 13th.

Both sides come into this one in very different form.

Hull City lost last time out at Sheffield United, but that was their first league defeat in their last five.

Meanwhile, QPR have gone five without registering a win, drawing at home to Swansea last time out.

Perhaps because of that poor QPR form, Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton is backing the home side to take all three points in a 2-1 victory this weekend.

Indeed, in his latest Sky Sports column, Prutton wrote: “I think Hull have been great so far under Liam Rosenior.”

Hull play in the Championship?

True False

“They didn’t get anything last week, but Sheffield United definitely knew they had been in a game by the end of it. It shows how far they’ve come.

“I’ve also got a lot of time for Neil Critchley, if things haven’t got quite motoring under him so far.

“There are a lot of teams trying to push into that top six, but I think this will be a defeat for them that won’t help their cause. Prediction [Hull] 2-1 [QPR].”

The Verdict

QPR really could do with a win given their recent run of form.

They can’t afford to let the gap between themselves and the play-offs grow too big, even if there is still a long way to go this season.

That being said, with the form that Hull are in, they are going to have a tough task breaking their winless run this weekend, particularly away from home.

As such, I can see a draw between the two sides come Saturday afternoon.
