Sky Sports pundit delivers prediction ahead of Derby County’s trip to Bristol City | OneFootball

David Prutton has backed Derby County to pick up all three points when they travel to take on Bristol City this afternoon.

The Rams are currently bottom of the table and 19 points from safety, but that’s because they have been hit with a 21-point deduction for off-field issues, including entering administration.

Whilst relegation seems inevitable, Wayne Rooney’s side have still competed well since the news, and, writing in his Sky Sports column, pundit Prutton has backed Derby to secure a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate.

Nigel Pearson’s men had really struggled on their own patch this season, but they do seem to have turned a corner in recent weeks, after picking up seven points from their previous three home games.

So, even though they fell to defeat at Sheffield United last time out, the Robins will be confident that they can pick up a much-needed win to extend the gap from the bottom three, which currently stands at seven points.

Bristol City will also take encouragement from the fact they have won the past two encounters between the sides at Ashton Gate.

The verdict

This is a slightly brave call from Prutton as Derby have won just one of their ten away fixtures this season, so they clearly struggle on the road.

Nevertheless, if the Rams didn’t have their points deduction they would be only one point behind Bristol City, which shows that there isn’t much between the teams.

Therefore, a close game seems likely and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was decided by a single goal.
