Sky Sport Italia Transfer Market Expert Gianluca Di Marzio: “Inter Need Denzel Dumfries At His Best To Move On From Hakimi”

Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio believes that Inter must hope to get the best out of Denzel Dumfries in order to move on from Achraf Hakimi.

Speaking on Sky Sport Italia, Di Marzio gave the view that the Dutchman was clumsy when he gave away a penalty against Juventus and has yet to show his best in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Dumfries arrived from PSV Eindhoven in the summer as the Nerazzurri looked to find a player with a similar profile to Hakimi following the Moroccan’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old has yet to really nail down a starting spot for the club, and he once again started on the bench as Simone Inzaghi turned to the reliable Matteo Darmian in the right-wing-back spot for the head-to-head clash with the Bianconeri.

Dumfries has shown significant flashes of his talent, but not yet enough to comprehensively take over from the departed Hakimi, and Di Marzio believes that this will be important for Inter.

“Dumfries’s mistake yesterday denied a victory that was very close for Inter,” Di Marzio stated. “For now he is not yet the player brought in to replace Hakimi, whose legacy was already very heavy. The Dutchman still makes significant mistakes, the best out of Dumfries is needed to help Inter move on from a champion like Hakimi.”
