Sassuolo travel to AC Milan tomorrow for the Coppa Italia, and they will be delighted to see that Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan will not be present.
The game in the Coppa Italia must be a continuation of the weekend for Milan – a 3-0 win against Empoli will only be strengthened with another dominant performance at home. On too many occasions this season, the Rossoneri have been underwhelming, and there are few opportunities left in the bank.
Therefore, the result tomorrow night must be the one expected. Failing to do so will only open up old questions, which have already been repeated too often this season.
Paulo Fonseca is expected to rotate his squad tomorrow, and the expectation is that several key players are to be given a chance to rest with a crowded December ahead of them, however, he has been forced to make two changes.
Maignan and Hernandez will both miss the clash, as Sky (via Milan News) reports, for medical reasons. The goalkeeper has undergone a ‘minor dental surgery’, whereas Theo suffered a knock at the weekend, so he will be rested as a precaution.
Marco Sportiello and Fillipo Terracciano are expected to take their places for the fixture, and it will be a chance for the young left-back to show why he should be the Frenchman’s deputy.
