Some good news has come from Milanello today, as Mike Maignan and Santiago Gimenez returned to full training.

Maignan suffered a nasty head injury during the 4-0 win over Udinese as he collided with Alex Jimenez, and he was required to rest at home. Gimenez meanwhile has been out since a bang to the side taken during the draw with Fiorentina in the game prior.

As reported by Peppe Di Stefano of Sky (via Di Marzio), both the French goalkeeper and the Mexican striker trained with the rest of the group at Milanello in today’s session in view of the Atalanta match on Sunday night.

It is still difficult to predict whether Maignan will start against La Dea, although it cannot be completely ruled out. On the other hand, it is difficult to imagine Gimenez getting the nod and more likely that Tammy Abraham or Luka Jovic will start.

Nonetheless, the latest updates arriving after this morning’s training remain comforting. Maignan has returned to training at full speed, showing that he has completely recovered after the trauma suffered.

It remains to be seen whether Sergio Conceição will decide to deploy him or whether he will prefer to preserve him for the highly anticipated return derby of the Coppa Italia next Wednesday.
