Following a honeymoon period at the start of the season, Rade Krunic’s relationship with Stefano Pioli has seemingly deteriorated. The Bosnian has been dropped down the pecking order and could leave AC Milan in January, a report claims.
Krunci was a key player for Milan at the start of the season, playing in the No.6 role of the midfield three. However, since Pioli reverted to a midfield tandem, the Bosnian has been getting less space and now Ismael Bennacer is back as well.
Against Frosinone yesterday, Yacine Adli came off the bench as well as Tommaso Pobega, but Krunic remained on it despite not starting against Dortmund. Speaking live on Sky Italia, as cited by Francesco Nasato, Peppe Di Stefano provided the latest on the matter.
“Krunic is now on the fringes of Milan’s project. For Pioli, the starting midfield to date is made up of Reijnders, Musah and Loftus-Cheek. Bennacer is returning to full strength and Adli will have his chances. Krunic can leave in January, there’s always Fenerbahce,” he stated.
Fenerbahce were extremely keen in the summer and will likely try again in January, especially since Milan have lowered their demands. In the meantime, the Rossoneri will be focused on getting Bennacer back into top condition.
