AC Milan remain in the hunt to sign Benjamin Sesko but his release clause is on the rise and could grow even higher before the season is done, a report claims.

According to Philipp Hinze of Sky Germany, the clause in Sesko’s contract – valid from this summer – is actually performance-based in terms of what the final amount will be. In the winter, the amount was still €50m.

Due to his good performances during the second half of the season, the release clause has now risen to €65m. The amount depends on playing time, goals and assists.

If he were to meet the maximum expectations, the sum could well rise to €70m-€75m, but this depends on Sesko’s last two games of the season for Leipzig and how he does in them.

Some top Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old striker and he adds that Milan are also interested as they look to invest in a new centre-forward option for the future.

Sesko’s numbers for Leipzig read as follows: 40 games across all competitions, 16 goals and two assists. Whether the Rossoneri are able to stump up a figure that it closer to €70m than €50m remains to be seen.
