AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca hopes to have three players return before jetting off to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.
Sky reported earlier today that Yunus Musah has seen his 2024 end early because of a calf issue. It is sadly not just discomfort and he and will therefore miss Milan’s last two games of the year against Hellas Verona and Roma.
Noah Okafor was also sidelined after yesterday undergoing some tests that revealed a first-degree lesion of the soleus muscle in his right calf. He is expected to spend around a month out, with a new scan scheduled for 10 days from now.
On Friday against Verona, seven players will be unavailable to Fonseca due to injury. In addition to Musah and Okafor, Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Luka Jovic will also be absent.
As for the returns of Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Bennacer and Jovic, there is a chance seeing them back on the pitch either in the match against Roma on 29 December or the semi-final of the Supercoppa against Juventus, scheduled for 3 January 2025 in the Middle East.
Of course given the nature of their respective problems they will not be rushed in any way, but having the American back in the attack would be a massive boost.
