AC Milan held conversations with two potential candidates recently as they hope to hire a new sporting director in the not too distant future.
As we reported and as is being widely reported in the Italian media, Milan intend to hire a new director to insert into the management, allowing Geoffrey Moncada to return to being predominantly a chief scout.
According to Sky, last week there were meetings and telephone contacts between Gerry Cardinale, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the possible future sporting directors of Milan, namely Igli Tare and Fabio Paratici.
Next week there will be a decision because the club wants to send signals and plan for the future. Andrea Berta – one of the architects of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid – had also been courted, but his path is traced towards the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the chances of Sergio Conceicao remaining as the head coach are ‘increasingly low’, both because of the results which have not been ideal but also the concerns about the atmosphere surrounding the squad.
Getting a new director in the next few weeks will certainly help with strategy for the summer transfer window given the time available to plan, and they would probably also have a big say on the next head coach too.
