“Sizable transfer fee” putting Serie A side off buying Chelsea player – but they have a plan

Renato Veiga has had a very curious career so far, jumping from club to club but climbing the ladder pretty effectively.

It was rather surprising he had signed for Chelsea last summer, given he wasn’t very well known at that point, but 6 months later he had moved on again, this time on a loan to Juventus to get more playing time at centre back.

His fortunes rose and fell there too – he was initially in favour, missed out for a while because of an injury, then had to earn the trust of new coach Igor Tudor. At times it’s seemed like he was bound to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but now it seems the Italian club are going to try and keep him permanently.

Juventus ready to go all out to sign on loan Chelsea man

JuveFC report that the Turin club are already working out their best methods for trying to secure him long term. Chelsea’s demands for a transfer is apparently a “daunting task” as we see Veiga as a player with big potential for the future and aren’t willing to cash in on him just yet.

We are planning to request a “significant transfer fee” that Juventus would struggle to meet. However they’ve got a backup plan – taking Veiga for another season on loan, with an option or obligation to buy at the end of next season.

That gives them a little more time to try before they buy, and to raise the money to sign him. Meanwhile we hopefully get a bigger fee as he gains another year of top level experience.

Veiga could be back at Chelsea – or not – next season

There still seems a chance he’s back in our squad for next season, but given his focus is on playing more games, and given we also look likely to invest heavily in an elite central defensive option, perhaps the best move for everyone is if we cash in now.
