Metz and Bordeaux played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Opa Nguette and Rémi Oudin both scoring twice. Elsewhere, Saint-Etienne were victorious at Troyes and Angers saw off Lorient.

THE MATCH

Bordeaux led 2-0 and 3-2 but left with only a point against the division’s bottom club, despite having a man advantage for the final quarter following Farid Boulaya’s red card (68’).

Alberth Elis (17’) gave Bordeaux the lead when he finished off an Oudin cross with the aid of a post. Oudin then doubled the visitors’ lead (39’) as he played a one-two with Javairo Dilrosun before scoring with a diagonal shot.

Metz pulled one back before half-time as Nicolas De Préville (45’) scored a left foot shot on the turn after Ibrahima Niane headed back a Thomas Delaine cross. Nguette (52’) equalized after Boulaya’s corner was nodded his way by Dylan Bronn.

Oudin fired Bordeaux back in front (66’) when he collected Yacine Adli’s pass and then struck home a 20-metre shot that stood after a VAR review as the attacking midfielder had originally been flagged offside. Boulaya was sent off for kicking out at Adli (68’) but remarkably Metz equalized (70’) as Nuguette scored a fine header from a Fabien Centonze cross.

THE PLAYER: Opa Nguette

Nguette was brought on on the half-hour for Sikou Niakité as Frédéric Antonetti switched to four at the back. It proved an inspired change as Nguette scored in the league for the first time since December 2020, becoming the first substitute to score two Ligue 1 goals for Metz since Thibaut Vion against Lorient in November 2016.

THE STAT: 6

Metz have conceded at least three goals six times at home in Ligue 1 in 2021.

Elsewhere, Saint-Etienne made it back-to-back wins thanks to an outstanding Miguel Trauco strike in a 1-0 victory at Troyes. Thomas Mangani’s penalty was enough for Angers to see off Lorient 1-0, and Strasbourg scored a 97th-minute equalizer at home to Reims as Jean-Ricner Bellegarde cancelled out Hugo Ekitike’s opener.
