Ineos billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still leading the race to buy Manchester United.

According to a new report from Sky News this morning, directors of United’s holding company had a meeting on Thursday to discuss the potential takeover of the club.

It will come as no surprise that it was led by members of the Glazer family and they were all given updated by The Raine Group, who are advising the Glazers throughout the sale process.

After 18 long years of Glazer ownership, we as fans are hoping that the end is near – but they appear to be dragging their heels for the best bid.

It is understood that the Glazers have yet to opt into exclusive negotiations with any of the bidders, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s rival in the progress, Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

While we are all growing impatient with this story, which has been ongoing since November, and I would begin to give up hope that anything will happen before the FA Cup final against Man City.
