Alex Ferguson joins Marcus Rashford in the fight against food poverty

Speaking to the Times (h/t Manchester Evening News), Sir Alex Ferguson has relayed his admiration for Marcus Rashford and pledged to donate £2million to match readers’ donations to the charity in their fight against food poverty in Britain.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has forced the British government into two humiliating U-turns over providing free meals for hungry children this year.

Last month, the 23-year-old striker was awarded an MBE for his contribution to the fight against hunger in the United Kingdom. His campaigning has resulted in helping FairShare provide two million meals a week to the needy in the country. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

The Scottish manager spoke about Marcus Rashford using his profile for good, and how others could stand to learn from the 23-year-old.

Marcus Rashford told in his interview with The Times about how his childhood struggles bonded him with his family, especially his mother Melanie, who often went hungry to feed her children.

Having gone through the feeling of being deprived of food as a kid due to socio-economic circumstances, Rashford said he does not want anyone to go through that feeling in their lives ever again.
