The Norway international is the subject of an eight-figure offer from the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich Town target Sindre Walle Egeli has confirmed that a bid has been placed for his services, and that it is now up to the Tractor Boys and his current club - Nordsjaelland - to agree a deal.

Attempts to reinforce up top have not come without their struggles for the Suffolk side this summer.

Losing Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson in the same summer was always going to cause the Ipswich recruitment department to put in some late nights to try and bring in players of similar ilk.

While Delap has been kind of replaced by Chuba Akpom, although not exactly, the hole left by Hutchinson, the more recent of the two departing players, has not been filled. Ipswich have made an offer for Egeli, a player that they feel could slot into the right-wing spot in Kieran McKenna's side.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet have reported that Town have sent a £17.3 million bid to FC Nordsjælland for the 19-year-old. He's had a hot start to the new season with two goals and two assists in six appearances, including the winner on Monday night versus Viborg - scored in just the fourth minute of the match.

Following the 1-0 victory, Egeli confirmed to another Danish publication, Bold, that he is aware of the offer that has been made by the former Premier League side - and that he is ready to take the next step by moving to England.

On whether Monday could be his final outing for his current club, the teenager said: "We’ll see. Maybe it was. It’s not up to me.

"Yes, I know there’s a bid, then it's up to the clubs and see if they can agree," the teenage sensation added.

"It is certainly exciting that the club has made a bid. But I don't think about it much. I am thinking of FC Nordsjælland and my performance here."

The Norwegian international also said that it is his "dream" to play in England. Ipswich have less than a week to make that dream become a reality, with the 7pm transfer deadline on Monday, 1st September quickly approaching.

Ipswich Town need to secure a winger before the end of the transfer window to replace Omari Hutchinson

Ipswich have created six big chances this season, as per Sofascore, which ranks them joint-eighth in the second tier.

Their inability to finish off those chances, having scored just two goals in their opening three games of the new Championship season, seems like a bigger problem than actually getting into positions to score. Luckily for them, Egeli could do both.

He has already shown this season his willingness to share the load when it comes to finding the back of the net.

That same theme was evident last season too, when he singlehandedly created 13 big chances in 31 Danish Superliga appearances. For context, Town created 60 across their entire Premier League campaign last time out.

The addition of a right-winger should also help the likes of Jack Clarke and Conor Chaplin to not have to play out of position. It is a lot of money for a player of his experience, but one that may be worth taking because of their lack of natural right-wingers - left-footed ones at that too.
