Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has told the club’s owners that the team will be able to compete for the Serie A title if they keep hold Milan Skriniar but could struggle to do so otherwise.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the coach has made clear that the competitiveness of the team could be heavily dependent on keeping the Slovakian for the season.

Inter will be hoping that they can go one better than last season when they narrowly finished second in the league, and the transfer window that they’ve had so far has been a positive one and has strengthened the team on paper.

However, this could all change if Skriniar is to be sold in the last couple weeks of the window, as the 27-year-old is an absolutely vital player for the Nerazzurri on the pitch.

Inzaghi has stressed to the owners that, given that Juventus and AC Milan have also made reinforcements during the transfer window, the sale of Skriniar would seriously hurt Inter’s ability to compete for the title.
