The upcoming fixture between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan will undoubtedly be an intense one. For starters, both teams value the UEFA Champions League highly and are desperate to win it. Thus, it will be a massive challenge for Hansi Flick and Barcelona as they take on the Italian giants.
Ahead of the match itself, both teams had their respective pre-match press conferences. Both Hansi Flick and Lamine Yamal represented Barcelona, and they both gave some interesting insights about various topics heading into the game.
As for Inter Milan, Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez was present alongside head coach Simone Inzaghi. Whereas the forward was asked certain interesting topics, including the comparison between Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi, Inzaghi spoke about more team-oriented details.
As highlighted by SPORT, he even claimed that this Barcelona team was quite possibly the best side in Europe right now:
“I’m preparing for a Champions League semifinal, it can’t be that. There’s a lot of excitement. Barça is probably the best team right now, and we need to be at our absolute best to compete with such a strong side.”
However, he did state that he was well aware of Barça’s strengths and abilities. Both the Catalan giants and Hansi Flick are difficult opponents to take on, but Inzaghi assured that his team would face them with no fear:
“We know Barcelona well. Flick is a fantastic coach who has brought an attacking style and solid organization to the team. They have excellent attackers, midfielders, and a ton of homegrown talent. We have the utmost respect for them, but we’ll look them in the eye — we’re not afraid. We’re talking about great teams here, like Bayern. The competition is top-level, but we want to show what we’re made of.”
Moreover, the Inter Milan coach claimed that all four remaining teams in the Champions League are the best teams in Europe right now:
“I think Inter, Barça, Arsenal, and PSG are the top teams in Europe right now — they’ve made it this far in the Champions League.”

He also spoke about Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, who he claims is a special kind of talent and has a lot of importance in Hansi Flick’s team:
“First, I want to congratulate Barça for producing such great talents. Lamine is a one-of-a-kind talent in the world. He makes great plays, but he’s also really valuable for the team — it’s not just individual brilliance.”
Claiming that this Barça team is a project that took time to build, Inzaghi referred to both Xavi Hernandez and Flick as he spoke about just how competent the Catalan giants are now:
“Barça is a team that’s been built over time. We know them because we’ve played against them. They’re a top-tier side with everything needed to play great football. First it was Xavi, who I consider a great coach, and now Flick is bringing superb organization, just like he did with Bayern and Germany.”
Certainly some positive words from the Serie A coach, but such words and information must be analyzed and reacted to accordingly. After all, with a match of this level and prestige, there is simply no way Barcelona can afford to be underprepared for the clash that is coming their way.
