Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels certain that he can rely on the goalscoring ability of striker Romelu Lukaku next season regardless of how the goals come.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach expects that the 29-year-old will be able to be a regular source of goals no matter what kind of service he gets.

Lukaku had been lethal in counterattacking situations at the ball at his feet in his two seasons playing under Antonio Conte, where the Belgian could either beat defenders and score goals for himself or pick his head up and combine with teammates to great effect.

The team play differently under Inzaghi than they had under Conte, meaning that the types of goals that Lukaku score will have to be different at times.

In preseason, the 29-year-old’s most common route to goal has been from crosses coming in from the wingbacks, but despite the team as a whole being disjointed and not creating as many chances as he’d want, the Belgian has still had no trouble.

Inzaghi believes that Lukaku will be consistent and reliable in front of goal next season, no matter what is going on around him.
