Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is thinking about handing a surprise start to forward Joaquin Correa in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the 29-year-old could start alongside Romelu Lukaku from the first whistle tomorrow evening, with the fitness of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko a doubt.

What looks absolutely certain is that Lukaku will start in attack tomorrow.

The Belgian has been in red hot form for his national side during the break, whilst he is also deemed to be fully fit to start against La Viola.

Accordingly, Lukaku will be given the chance to prove himself against the Tuscans, with Inzaghi hoping that he can reprise his goalscoring form from the international break, which saw the 29-year-old score four goals in two matches, at club level.

As far as the identity of Lukaku’s partner in attack, however, that is less clear.

What looks to be all but certain is that Edin Dzeko will not start, as the 37-year-old has been dealing with a back injury during the break whilst he has been on international duty with Bosnia and Herzgovina.

However, Martinez is also something of a doubt, as the 25-year-old only returned to Inter training from international duty with Argentina yesterday.

Given that the Nerazzurri have a packed April fixture list which sees the team play a total of nine matches spread across just thirty days during the upcoming months, there is a real chance that Inzaghi will decide not to use Martinez from the start.

Accordingly, the coach could be looking at Correa, who unlike his countryman, has stayed back and trained during the break, and looks to be fully fit.

The former Lazio and Sampdoria man has had his impact limited by injuries ever since joining Inter from the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2021.

Correa has appeared just twelve times for Inter in Serie A, totalling a little over four hundred minutes of action in total.

However, tomorrow could be the opportunity for the 28-year-old to show what he can do from the start.
