Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has asked his club not to sell defender Milan Skriniar before the end of the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri coach wants to keep hold of the 27-year-old until the end of the current season regardless of his situation.

Inter now know full well that Skriniar plans to depart to join Paris Saint-Germain, whether this is to come at the end of his contract in June when he is able to leave on a free transfer, or if the Parisians make the right offer in the next couple days.

The temptation would certainly be there for the Nerazzurri to accept the right offer from the French champions, as the club’s financial situation means that cashing in while they still can could still have major advantages.

However, there is little doubt that the loss of Skriniar would be a significant one on the pitch, as the former Sampdoria man remains a key player at the heart of the Nerazzurri’s defense.

Losing a player as important to the team as Skriniar would constitute a major headache for Inzaghi, who has the rest of the season to think about, between Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League.

From the coach’s perspective, even if the Nerazzurri were to somehow secure a high-quality replacement for Skriniar in the next couple days and accept an offer from PSG for the 27-year-old, there is no doubt that this would disrupt the team’s preparations.

For this reason, Inzaghi has asked that the club not accept any offers for Skriniar, a player who he continues to trust and see as vital to the team’s goals for the rest of the sesason.
