Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has revealed that he found it difficult for the side to win the Scudetto the way they have – by beating Milan at the San Siro.

Goals from Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram helped the Nerazzurri pick up a 2-1 win over Milan, who pulled one back through Fikayo Tomori but were down to nine men towards the end of the game. The Nerazzurri had a 14-point lead before they went into the game and their lead is now at 17 points.

This is Inzaghi’s first Serie A win and it comes after he had won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana last season. He had also won the Coppa Italia at Lazio as well.

After the win, Inzaghi spoke to the press about the victory and he said: “The Scudetto tonight is a beautiful evening, to be shared with everyone, the club, the managers, the president who unfortunately is not here with us but who is very happy and I felt it. My thoughts also go to my family, to my wife, to my parents, who have been important in these three years, my limit is not to keep work outside the home, so I thank them all.”

He further stated, when asked about what makes him happiest about the title win:

“These people, the passion of the fans. I see 3 years with 6 trophies and a Champions League final: it was difficult to imagine it like this. Thanks to the boys. We have the mathematics in a derby at Milan’s home: it’s something that will remain this way. It wasn’t easy for them to play psychologically and they gave everything until the end, they were very valid opponents in these three years and will be so in the coming years too.”

The Italian also revealed that Inter were keen on winning the league tonight, saying: “We wanted to win it tonight. I thought someone would say something this morning about training in the rain, but nobody did. We worked this morning on details that were very important, such as the positioning.”
